The NRA wants you to believe that “People kill people, not guns”. But I say:
1. People kill people by punching and kicking and stabbing. It tends to be up close and personal, and quite exhausting. Usually the victim has some sort of self-defence. Some sort of chance.
2. Guns kill people at a distance, indiscriminately, effortlessly, swiftly, and quickly. Guns allow one 20 year old to mow down a whole primary class and hardly raise a sweat! People kill people, but guns can really speed that up!
3. Therefore, “People kill people” ignores the raw physics at work in a mass-shooting, and is just a bubble-gum sound-byte from the NRA. They want you to go around saying that. Don’t give them that satisfaction.
