Hybrid solar thermal plants

I was thinking about hybrid solar power systems… although in my mind I called them CSP with biomass backup.

One is about to be opened in Israel. They seem to be relying on solar thermal power and then the biomass for night. What I’d LOVE to see costed out is something more along the David Mill’s Ausra solar thermal or the graphite heat storage block system backed up by biomass. In other words, don’t use biomass for “night” when graphite heat storage could do that… try to run the plant 24/7 on graphite solar thermal heat storage alone. But build up a really good store of biofuels for a week’s rain across the power plant or other such longer-term events. I’ll contact some of the technical boffins I know.
