TheEcovillage.com.au looks nice, and seems to have a good “half way there” aspect to it. However, the real test will be the economic viability of this community in meeting local needs in a post-oil world. I think we just rely too much on goods trucked interstate. Shipping could take up some slack from port to port, but how does that stuff then get inland? I guess at least this place is a 7 km rikshaw ride from the coast… in an emergency supplies could at least be cycled in. Hopefully if our governments upgrade rail and shipping, things may not get that bad.
